Giving information in this regard, the official spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that the said revenue officer has been arrested on the basis of a complaint filed by Kesar Singh, a resident of village Garhi Sheru of Ludhiana district.

He further said that the complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau and told that the said Patwari had asked him for a bribe of Rs 20000 in exchange for settling the case related to the transfer of his family’s land and he had already taken Rs 10000 in this regard. He further alleged that the alleged accused patwari is demanding the remaining amount of bribe from him in exchange for transfer of the said land and he has recorded the conversation with the patwari in this regard.

The spokesperson further said that after the preliminary investigation of this complaint, the Vigilance Bureau team laid a trap and arrested the accused Patwari red-handed while taking bribe money from the complainant in the presence of two government witnesses.

In this regard, a case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Jalandhar Range police station of the Vigilance Bureau. He said that the accused will be produced in the honorable court tomorrow and further investigation of the matter is going on.
