New Delhi- India’s D Gukesh has created history in the world of chess. 18-year-old Gukesh has become the new world champion of chess. He proved his dominance by defeating reigning champion Ding Liren in the final of the FIDE World Chess Championship. The Indian grandmaster won the title by defeating China’s Ding Liren in the 14th game. Gukesh scored this victory while playing with black coins.
Dommaraju Gukesh has added several pages to history by winning the World Chess Championship. He became the youngest world champion in chess. With this win, D Gukesh has entered the elite club of Vishwa Nathan Anand. He is only the second Indian chess player to become the world champion. Viswanathan Anand is the first Indian player to achieve this feat.
Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh tied with his Chinese opponent Ding Liren 6.5-6.5 after 13 games. In the 14th game Ding Liren was playing with white pawns. In such a case, his hand was considered to be the only one. But De Gukesh defied all odds and not only won the match but also achieved the feat of becoming the youngest world champion.
