Law Minister Asif Nazrul in the Interim Government of Bangladesh has criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his post on Vijay Diwas on X. Nazrul said, “India was just a partner in this victory, nothing more.” In 1971, during the war for the independence of Bangladesh, the Pakistani army was forced to lay down its arms before the Indian army and on this day (December 16) ) is celebrated as ‘Vijay Diwas.
The office of the head of the interim government of Bangladesh, Mohammad Yunus, has reposted these comments of Nazural. Attaching a screenshot of Mr. Modi’s post, which paid tribute to Indian soldiers for their contribution to the historic victory in 1971, Nazrul wrote in Bengali on Facebook on Monday, “I strongly oppose. 16 December 1971 is the Victory Day of Bangladesh. India was just a partner in this victory, nothing more.” Hasnat Abdullah, convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, has also criticized Modi’s post. -News-Patiala
