New Delhi, December 9
Jagdish Tytler: A Delhi court has directed the CBI to re-produce a witness in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler.
Special Judge Jitinder Singh asked the CBI to try to find Manmohan Kaur one more time and summon her. It may be mentioned that Manmohan Kaur is a government witness against Tytler in this case. In this case, the court had summoned Manmohan Kaur earlier. The CBI told the court today that the whereabouts of Manmohan Kaur are not being found. The court today recorded the statement of another prosecution witness Bal Kishan Arya while summoning other witnesses Anuj Sinha and ND Pancholi on December 20. Tytler appeared in person at the court hearing today.
This case is related to the murder of three Sikhs in Gurdwara Pul Bangash in the national capital in 1984. On November 12, the court had recorded the statement of Lakhwinder Kaur, widow of Badal Singh, who was killed by a violent mob in Gurdwara Pul Bangash during the riots. On September 13, the court framed charges of murder and other crimes against Tytler. A witness had earlier claimed that Tytler got out of a white car in front of Gurdwara Pul Bangash on November 1, 1984 and incited an anti-Sikh mob, after which three Sikhs were killed.
