New Delhi: The film ‘Chhava’ was surrounded by controversies even before its release. The Marathi community had objected to some content of the film, which was corrected before release. Now the film is making a splash at the box office. The film has earned 200 crores from domestic box office in 7 days. The film depicts Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s Shaurya saga, in which Rashmika Mandana is in the lead role with Vicky Kaushal. The film has been made tax free in Goa and Madhya Pradesh. Now Prime Minister Narendra Modi has praised ‘Chhava’.
PM Narendra Modi reached the ‘Marathi Sahitya Sammelan’ on Friday 21 February, and also mentioned cinema besides literature science. He said in his statement, ‘Jyotiba Phule, Savitri Bai Phule, Maharishi Karve, Baba Saheb Ambedkar, how many such great social reformers worked to irrigate the thinking of the new era in Marathi language. Marathi language in the country has also given us very rich Dalit literature. Due to its modern thinking, there have also been compositions of science fiction in Marathi literature.
Prime Minister was admissible to ‘Chhava’
PM Narendra Modi further said, ‘When Mumbai is mentioned, without films neither the matter of literature nor Mumbai will be completed. This is Maharashtra and Mumbai, which has given this height to Marathi films as well as Hindi cinema. These days there is a boom of ‘Chhava’. As soon as the Prime Minister’s film was mentioned, the people sitting in the meeting started cheering Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.

The Prime Minister further said, ‘Shivaji Sawant’s Marathi novel has been introduced to Sambhaji Maharaj’s bravery. Today India is one of the oldest and vibrant civilizations in the world. We have developed continuously. We have consistently added new ideas. The world’s largest linguistic diversity in India is the identity of unity. The film ‘Chhava’ was released in theaters on 14 February.
