2020 Delhi Riots: Hearing on bail petitions of Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam in Delhi High Court on Tuesday


New Delhi, January 6

The Delhi High Court will hear on January 7 the bail applications of student activists Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam and other accused in the UAPA case related to the February 2020 violence. The cases are to be heard by Justice Naveen Chawla and Justice Shailendra Kaur. On the other hand, Delhi Police has to file their affidavits in the cases. A case was registered against Khalid, Imam and others under various sections of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and IPC. Police had claimed that the accused were the alleged conspirators of the February 2020 riots, in which 53 people died and over 700 were injured. This violence broke out during the protests against CAA and NRC. The police had arrested all the accused at different times. News-Patiala
