NEW DELHI: With India all set to take on Australia in what promises to be a thrilling World Cup final in Ahmedabad on Sunday, all-rounder Mitchell Marsh‘s prediction for the summit clash, which he made earlier this year during IPL has gone viral on social media.
As the two-time champions India set their eyes on a third title and second on home soil, formidable Australia and the five-time champions stand in their way.
In May, Marsh, in his franchise Delhi Capitals’ podcast had made a bold prediction about the World Cup final.
When asked about making an early World Cup prediction, Marsh had said,” Australia undefeated. Defeating India. Australia 450 for 2 in the final, India all out 65.”
India previously faced Australia in a World Cup final in 2003 where the Ricky Ponting-led side won by 125 runs.
This time around, India have won all their 10 games including a 6-wicket win over the Aussies in Chennai. Pat Cummins and co won 7 out of their 9 group stage games and defeated South Africa by 3 wickets in the semis to make their 8th World Cup final.
