At the heart of the refresh is the A17 Pro chip, first seen in last year’s iPhone 15 Pro series. Apple claims this delivers a 30% boost in CPU performance and 25% faster graphics compared to the previous iPad mini. The Neural Engine is now twice as fast, and that make it compatible with Apple Intelligence.
Despite the internal upgrades, the iPad mini’s exterior remains largely unchanged from its 2021 predecessor. It retains the 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display with a 2266×1488 resolution at 326 ppi. The 12MP front-facing continues to be positioned for portrait orientation and support Center Stage for video calls. On the rear, the mini has also has 12MP camera with Smart HDR 4.
Connectivity sees improvements with Wi-Fi 6E support and a faster USB-C port, now capable of data transfers up to 10Gbps. There’s also 5G cellular model for the mini.
Storage options have been doubled, with the base model now offering 128GB and a new 512GB option added to the lineup. The mini also gains compatibility with the new Apple Pencil Pro.
