NEW DELHI: In yet another case of threat being received on social media, Vistara‘s Delhi-London flight of Oct 18 was diverted to Frankfurt late on Friday night. Flight tracking sites show the Boeing 787 landed Frankfurt at 9.02 pm (local time). After being thoroughly checked and getting security cleared, it took off from there 2.5 hours later for its destination where it landed at 11.32 pm (all timings local).This is the latest in a series of hoax threat messages Indian carriers have been receiving for about a week now.
“Vistara flight UK17 operating from Delhi to London on Oct 18, 2024, received a security threat on social media. In line with the protocol, all relevant authorities were immediately informed and as a precautionary measure, the pilots decided to divert the flight to Frankfurt. The flight landed safely at the Frankfurt Airport. Mandatory checks are being conducted and the flight will continue once cleared by the security agencies. At Vistara, the safety and security of our customers, crew, and aircraft remain our highest priority,” said a Vistara spokesperson.
Flight tracking sites show the Boeing 787 had just passed Frankfurt enroute London when it turned to land in the German city.
