Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday called on civil servants to stay updated with technological advancements to meet the evolving standards of governance. Addressing the “Karmayogi Saptah” — National Learning Week event at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi, Modi emphasized the need for civil servants to adopt a citizen-centric approach while leveraging modern tools like artificial intelligence (AI).
PM Modi urged civil servants to embrace innovation by seeking input from startups, research organizations, and young minds. He stressed that AI is revolutionizing information processing, empowering citizens to stay informed and hold governments accountable. “The civil servants need to keep themselves abreast of the latest technological developments so as to meet the rising standards, wherein Mission Karmayogi can prove to be of help,” PM Modi said.
Launched in 2020, Mission Karmayogi aims to enhance civil service capacity, creating a future-ready workforce grounded in Indian values and global outlooks. PM Modi highlighted the importance of feedback mechanisms within departments and fostering collaboration across civil service institutions to share best practices.
Discussing the dual aspects of AI—artificial intelligence and “Aspirational India”—PM Modi emphasized the transformative potential of using AI to advance national progress. “For India, AI presents both a challenge and an opportunity,” he remarked, stressing that effectively balancing both could bring significant change.
As part of the National Learning Week initiative, the prime minister expressed confidence in the progress made and reiterated his vision of achieving a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047. He highlighted the success of the iGOT platform, where over 40 lakh government employees have enrolled in over 1,400 courses, with more than 1.5 crore completion certificates issued.
“Through Mission Karmayogi, our goal is to create human resources that will drive India’s development,” PM Modi concluded, lauding the passion of government workers and encouraging continued dedication to the nation’s progress.
