Municipal corporation elections are to be held in Punjab on 21 December. The results will also come in the evening. Today Congress has released the first list of its candidates. Yesterday, a meeting of the screening committee was held under the leadership of District Congress President Sanjay Talwar on Tibba Road. from all quarters in the meeting

The previous records of the applicants were also checked. A complete report of the applications was prepared and sent to State President Amarinder Singh Raja Vading. After which this first list has been released. Congress is betting on its old faces. New faces are being fielded in place of the councilors who left Congress and joined other political parties.

Giving information, Mamta Ashu, wife of former cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, said that thankfully civic elections are being held in the city. The present government had insisted on not holding civic elections. Now after the elections there is enthusiasm among Congress workers also. The stalled development works of the city will be completed. Congress mayor will be elected in Corporation House.
