The Chief Conservator of the North Zone of the Forest Department has directed the DFO Dasuha to take action against the owner by sealing the illegal katha factory in Behmawa village of Kandhi. Constituency MLA Advocate Karambir Singh Ghuman has also assured the forest department of taking action against the illegal Katha factory despite the ban imposed by the government and has also claimed to recommend action against the concerned officials.
It is to be mentioned that this case was prominently raised by ‘Punjabi News-Patiala’ under the title ‘Chimneys of Illegal Katha Factories after theft of Khair wood’. During the preliminary investigation, the forest guard had clarified that the factory was also found in working condition and good wood was also found inside. The factory owners had given the bill to buy wood from Saharanpur.
Sanjeev Tiwari, Chief Conservator of North Zone, said that during the investigation conducted when the matter came to light, it was found that out of the three factories in Kandi, only the Katha factory in Behmawa was operated. During the investigation, khair wood was also found inside, which was closed immediately. Yesterday, DFO Dasuha Anjan Singh was out somewhere, who has been instructed to take appropriate action by sealing the Katha factory in Behmawa. He claimed that no katha factory will be allowed to run without a license. The forest officer said that the officer who was negligent in the case of running an illegal factory will also be investigated.
He assured that a report has also been called on the running of the katha factories of Amroh and Bhalowal, if the factories are found to be running then action will be taken against them.
