Employees will no longer have to go through rate-to-rate hurdles to withdraw their provident fund. According to Labor Secretary Sumita Dawra, from next year employees will be able to withdraw their provident fund through ATMs. He said that emphasis is being laid on speedy settlement of Provident Fund claims. He said that the beneficiaries will be able to withdraw their provident funds easily through ATMs.
Dawra said that the IT system is being upgraded by the Labor Ministry and improvements will be seen every two to three months. Employees Provident Fund Organization has 7 crore active beneficiaries. About the plan to give social security benefits to small workers, Davra said that work is going on in this regard, but he refused to give any time frame.
These benefits include medical health coverage, provident fund and financial assistance in cases of disability. The labor secretary claimed that the unemployment rate in the country has decreased than before. He said that the unemployment rate was 6 percent in 2017, which has reduced to 3.2 percent today. – ANI
