Pandya dismisses Shami’s team, Prithvi Shaw’s stormy innings, Venkatesh breaks Saurashtra’s dreams

Mohammad Shami, who entered a tournament after a long time, could not do anything special on Wednesday and the Pandya brothers showed their team the way out. This match was of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. In the quarter-finals of the tournament, Baroda defeated Bengal by a huge margin of 41 runs. With this, the team of Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya has reached the semi-finals.

All four quarter final matches of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy took place on Wednesday. In the first match, Madhya Pradesh defeated Saurashtra by 6 wickets. Batting first, Saurashtra scored 173 runs. In reply, Madhya Pradesh won the match losing 4 wickets with 4 balls to spare. Venkatesh Iyer took 2 wickets and scored 38 runs for Madhya Pradesh. He was selected as the player of the match.

In the second match, Bengal and Baroda faced each other. Batting first, Baroda scored 172 runs for 7 wickets. Shashwat Rawat scored the highest 40 runs for Baroda. Captain Krunal Pandya (7) and Hardik Pandya (10) could not show excellence in batting. Mohammad Shami took 2 wickets for 43 runs in 4 overs for his team. Kanishk Seth and Pradipta Pramanik also took two wickets each.

The Bengal team got out by scoring 131 runs in response to the target of 173 runs. Shahbaz Ahmed scored the highest 55 runs for Bengal. Ritwik Roy Chowdhury (29) and Abhishek Porel (22) also played a good innings but the rest of the batsmen could not even touch the 10-run mark. As a result, the entire team was restricted to 18 overs only. Hardik Pandya, Lukman Meriwala and Areet Seth took 3 wickets each.

The third quarter final of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy was played between Mumbai and Vidarbha. Batting first, Vidarbha posted a huge score of 221 runs. In reply, Mumbai scored 82 runs in 6 overs. Prithvi Shaw played an excellent innings of 49 runs in 26 balls for Mumbai.
