A three-day open football tournament was organized by Punjab Sports Academy Chakra with the support of Gram Panchayat Chakra, migrant Punjabis and all the villagers. 45 teams participated in this tournament held at Bhai Maghar Singh Memorial Stadium. In the final, the flag team won the first prize by defeating the host Chakar team. In the tournament, the best forward Pardeep Singh Jhanduke, the best goalkeeper Bantu Jhanduke, the best midfielder Jobanpreet Singh Chakar and the best defender Taranpreet Singh Chakar were announced. Women’s spoon race and seniors’ races were the center of attraction in the tournament. On this occasion, players of Chakar who achieved achievements in boxing, Gurleen Kaur who won a silver medal in chess and Navjot Kaur Sandhu, the first girl of Chakar to do PhD, were honoured. Sports writer Mr. Sarwan Singh encouraged the residents of Chakar to fight in every area. Sarpanch Sohan Singh Sidhu congratulated the players. Nagar Panchayat distributed prizes to the winning teams. On this occasion, the patron of Talk Academy Mr. Balwant Singh Sandhu and dignitaries were present.
