A few days ago such an incident happened which shook the mind to the core. The whole day he was thinking that what is happening, where has our new generation gone? In moments, all the relationships are getting strained. Who is responsible for all this? Many questions kept sounding like hammers in the mind of the sleeper in the night. Since the Corona period, mobile phones have been in the hands of children, many social media apps have come into existence. Children are secretly using it, even parents are not aware of it.
How many people do I see in court every day? Some are familiar faces and some are new. He was standing near the policemen at the entrance. People were coming. Every day couples come to the court to get married and get protection. Similarly, a couple came to my seat yesterday. Their faces were tied with handkerchiefs. His lawyer Munshi was with him. The policeman asked her to remove the handkerchief from her mouth and the woman officer searched the girl. Also questioned. “How did you come?”
“Yes, to get married,” the girl said in a subdued voice. I was shocked to hear this. The girl looked like an eighth-ninth grader. The boy who was with him was mature and dark looking like twenty-seven years old. His eyes and gaze looked like he was on drugs. Compared to her, the girl was no match, the girl looked like a beautiful beauty from a good home. A stir arose in my mind. The girl has nothing to do with the boy. The girl does not even know that there is no marriage in the court, only protection. She had come to get married unknown, neither the lawyer told them anything. They have to take huge amounts of money. Many questions created turmoil in my mind. This thinker’s life is wasted.
Girls of this age can never take a right decision. Neither do they understand. They are easily fooled. Dreams of palaces built in the air begin to be seen. Everything looks right to them. They lose the respect of parents in moments. Their love throughout the year is very big, but the love of parents is dwarfed. The class sitting in our religious places is not less responsible. They do not see anything in the greed of money, just read four words and give the marriage certificate. They should prohibit such act without the consent of the parents of both the parties. Through this certificate, they reach the court to seek protection. Then the girl’s parents are their worst enemies in the fabricated stories created by the lawyers. This draft is taken to the judge. They have to give compulsory security. That couple thinks we got married in court. Even the general naive public takes security as marriage. While the court gives protection only on the certificate of marriage performed at religious places.
As soon as the girl’s parents came to know, they reached the court in search of the girl. There was a bit of a commotion. The girl and the boy were seated inside the court. Parents and grandmother appeared before the judge. The judge said to them, “This is the certificate of the gurdwara. They have come to me for protection, their lives are in danger from you. The girl refused to go with her parents. In moments, their pampering turned to dust. All relations became non-existent. The girl’s family left the courtroom crying. I cannot describe their pain. Seeing them also filled my heart. As if my own child had done something wrong. Many other things came out from there. The age of the boy is thirty two years and the age of the girl is eighteen and a half years. The girl belonged to a good family and was a first year student of B.Com. The boy studied seven classes and used to drive someone. This love of theirs had exploded on social media. The girl is no match for the boy who had already smitten me.
I also keep seeing that such relationships are rarely successful. After two-four months again they knock on the court rate or embrace death. In these cases, the girls are of a young age, the boys are drug addicts. Parents should sit with children and talk to them from all sides. It is also necessary to give information about lies and deception on social media. They should get out of their mobiles and spend time with the children so that their loneliness can be removed. In fact, what happens is that if there are four members of the house, then all four have mobiles in their hands. All are opening their respective apps and tapping away as if mobile is their relative now. Nowadays everyone is haunted by the ghost of making reels which is also causing accidents.
To counter such a situation, we need to connect children with as many literary books as possible so that they can be aware of the future. Therefore, first we have to connect ourselves with the books, then only the children will get their hands on the books. It has become necessary to take children to the playground as well. Where they used to play games in the field, now they play on mobiles. Freeing children from the grip of mobile phones is the need of the hour. Social media is like drinking poison. Governments should also completely ban social media for children under the age of sixteen like Australia for the better future of children so that the new generation is not harmed.
