Review of arrangements by election observers

IAS posted as election observer by Punjab State Election Commission for Municipal Corporation, Municipal Councils and Nagar Panchayat elections in district Jalandhar. Officer Harpreet Singh Sudan today held a meeting with the senior officials of the district administration and reviewed the arrangements made to conduct the election process in a completely independent, fair and smooth manner. District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Dr. While presiding over the meeting with Himanshu Agarwal, he directed to conduct these elections in a fair, transparent and peaceful manner and said that the instructions and rules of the State Election Commission should be strictly followed. They also reviewed the polling booths, training of election staff, dispatch and collection centers, keeping EVMs in strong room after polling, deployment of force and other arrangements.

He also asked the police officers posted on election duty to remain fully alert and ready till the election process is completed. The election observer also appreciated the officials of the district administration for filing the nomination papers in the district and conducting the scrutiny of the papers peacefully. He said that in order to conduct the election process in a smooth, fair and transparent manner, PCS has been appointed by the administration for better coordination. Four officers of the rank have also been posted. He said that adequate arrangements have been made for election staff rehearsals, strong room, polling. On this occasion DCP Aditya said that vigilance has already been increased by the police and adequate force will be deployed during the elections. On this occasion Sunil Phogat IAS (UT), Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Jasbir Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Budhiraj Singh, SDM. Randeep Singh and Balbir Raj Singh, EO. Pudda Alka Kalia, A.C.A. J.D.A. Apart from Darbara Singh, other officials were also present.

Hoshiarpur: Inspection of nomination papers by election observer

Observer IAS officer Special Secretary Housing Construction and Urban Development Apneet Riyat, appointed by the Punjab State Election Commission for District Hoshiarpur Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat elections, reached Hoshiarpur today. He reviewed the preparations for the elections and held a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal and reviewed the arrangements made to conduct the election process in a fair, transparent and smooth manner. After this, he reached the tehsil complex and observed the process of verification of nomination papers. Mrs. Riyat expressed satisfaction over the process of scrutiny of nomination papers. He instructed the officials that this process should be carried out with full transparency and fairness. He said that there should be no mistake in the scrutiny of nomination papers and the nomination papers of each candidate should be carefully scrutinised. Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner told the Election Observer that the election code is being strictly followed. He said that all arrangements related to the election have been completed. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Nikas Kumar, SDM Hoshiarpur Sanjeev Sharma and Returning Officer Kulwant Singh Sidhu were also present on this occasion.
