Samana, 14 December
During the scrutiny of the papers submitted for the by-election of Ward No. 12 of Municipal Council Samana, the nomination papers of Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal and independent candidates were rejected by the returning officer, while Aam Aadmi Party candidate Dharampal Nahar and his covering candidate Prince The nomination papers were found to be correct. Dharmapala Nahar won unopposed as Prince withdrew his nomination papers. On the other hand, former Congress MLA Rajinder Singh called it a murder of democracy.
He said that the reason for canceling the nomination paper was given as non-payment of property tax while Congress candidate Asha Rani has neither any land, nor any government utility bill or electricity meter in her name. In such a case, whose property tax should he pay? He said that he will take the matter to court. He said that ‘AAP’ did a lot of bullying in these elections.
