Bharti Kisan Union Ekta-Ugrahan, under the invitation of SKM, against the draft of central agriculture marketing and the pending demands of Delhi Ghol including legal guarantee of MSP, on 23rd December in preparation for protests at district centers across Punjab here at Dana Mandi today. A state level meeting was held under the chairmanship of Joginder Singh Ugrahan. Hundreds of leaders and activists from the village level including a large number of women and youth participated in this meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Joginder Singh Ugrahan said that the Center wants to impose the same black law on farmers across the country through the Agriculture Marketing Bill, which has been issued for formal approval of the state governments in 15 days, just like the GST taxes. State General Secretary Sukhdev Singh Kokri Kalan said that with the implementation of this draft in legal form, the pro-corporate open market policy of the World Trade Organization will be overturned and the crops will be looted at exorbitant prices. Through the contract farming policy in the draft, the lands of ordinary farmers will be encroached by the corporate-landlord alliance. This draft is an announcement to trample the demand for legal guarantee of MSP. District-level protests are being held across the country in the first phase of the decisive struggle by SKM on the demand to cancel this draft.
