The Vigilance Bureau team has arrested data entry operator Jatinder Kumar and Mukesh posted at the RTA (Road Transport Authority) office here for accepting a bribe of Rs.5500. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against both of them at the Police Station, Amritsar Range. They were arrested on the basis of the complaint of Surjit Kumar, a resident of Manwal village in Pathankot district.

The complainant Surjeet Kumar contacted the Vigilance Bureau and alleged in his complaint that the said accused demanded a bribe of Rs 5500 to transfer his vehicle from Himachal Pradesh number to Punjab state registration number. The spokesperson of Vigilance said that after the initial investigation of this complaint, the team laid a trap during which the two accused were caught red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs. 5500 from the complainant Surjit Kumar in the presence of official witnesses. The accused will be produced in court tomorrow.
