The Municipal Corporation team that went to demolish the shops built in the Ghuman Market located in front of the Civil Hospital here returned unscathed due to public opposition.
In the presence of Building Branch Officer ATP Sukhdev Vashisht, when an attempt was made to break the illegally constructed shops with the help of JCB machine, the people not only resisted the officials but even took away the keys of the vehicle. Seeing the situation deteriorating, the officials thought it was right to slip away from there, but the matter did not stop there, on the contrary, people reached in front of the Temperance Hall (Divisional Office) and protested against the officials of the department.
Joint Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Surjit Singh says that the whole matter has been brought to the attention of the Municipal Corporation Commissioner and strict action will be taken according to whatever orders are received. He made it clear that mistreatment of municipal officials will not be tolerated in any way.
