The Supreme Court has given orders regarding the 70-year-old farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is on an indefinite death fast. The High Court has ordered Dallewal to be shifted to the hospital. The court has said that Dallewal, who has built a temporary hospital, should be shifted there. According to sources, the police can now take action. Let it be said that fearing any action by the police, the farmers have erected a ‘security perimeter’ by standing trolleys around Dallewal, so there is a fear of a clash between the police and the farmers. The court was also told about this by the Punjab government yesterday.
Let it be known that yesterday the court said that they should convince Dallewal, who is on an indefinite fast to die, for a health check-up. The court had pulled the Punjab government for not conducting the medical test of Dallewal, who was on a death fast at the Dhabi Gujjars bordering Haryana. The top court asked Punjab Advocate General Gurminder Singh to arrange for Dallewal to undergo treatment for at least a week while others can continue the protest.
The Advocate General had sought a day’s time to explain to Dallewal and apprise him of the court’s sentiments to ensure his safety. The bench had listed the matter for December 20 today. The court has said that the high court has ordered Dallewal to be admitted to the hospital.
