Weapons recovered from gangster members.
Police in Amritsar have arrested 2 members of a gangster module. Two modern 9 mm pistols, four magazines, Glock pistol and 14 cartridges have been recovered from them. This action was taken by Counter Intelligence (CI) Pathankot of Punjab Police.

DGP Gaurav Yadav said that the arrested persons have been identified as Sunil Kumar alias Ashu resident of Rauwal, Batala and Dilpreet Singh alias Dil resident of Raimal, Batala. The accused Sunil alias Ashu is an accused with a criminal record and a case has been registered against him under the NDPS Act. On 27 February, he was released on bail from Gurdaspur jail.
A consignment of weapons was found from Ajnala area. DGP Gaurav Yadav said preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had received the arms consignment from Ajnala area of Amritsar on the instructions of their handlers and were instructed to hand over the consignment to some party. He said the investigation was ongoing to trace the source of the weapons and identify other suspects involved in the network.
AIG CI Pathankot Sukhminder Singh Mann said that the police had received secret information that accused Sunil Kumar and Dilpreet Singh were in contact with some gangsters and had recently received a consignment of weapons, bullets and coins from them. He said that based on the information, CI Pathankot teams laid a trap and arrested both the accused and recovered weapons, bullets and coins from their possession.
The AIG said that efforts are being made to trace the previous consignment recovered by the accused. A case in this regard has been registered at Police Station State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) Amritsar under Section 25 of the Arms Act and Section 61 (2) of the Indian Penal Code (BNS). The arrested accused will be produced in the court and sent to police custody.
