Late last night, unknown people tried to burn alive 35 people, including 20 children, near Khanna’s canal bridge Garhi Tarkhana in Punjab. The houses of people sleeping in slums were set on fire. About 16 slums and 2 shops were destroyed in this accident.

Parents took their children in their arms and ran outside to save their lives. But could not save the roof over their heads which they had built with their hard-earned money. During this period there was a loss of lakhs of rupees. There was protection from personal harm. These people have also expressed suspicion on one person. Machhiwada Sahib police station had started investigation.
Vehicle, clothes, cash all burnt to ashes
Sita Ram Mukhiya and Darshi told that at around 12:30 midnight, seeing the flames in the slums, all the family members came out of the slums along with their children and started making loud noise. The fire was so fierce that they did not even get time to take out their pets and many animals were burnt to death and all the goods kept in the huts were also burnt to ashes.

He told that his slums have been set on fire by unknown people. A grocery shop and a clothing shop were also burnt. Some mischievous element set fire on the roof of the slum due to which all the slums got caught in the fire. The victims’ families say that the police department should investigate the matter and strict legal action should be taken.
Police called fire brigade
Machhiwada Sahib SHO Pavitra Singh said that he got information about the fire at 12.45 am and he immediately reached there and informed the fire brigade, but still 15-16 huts were burnt and some animals were also burnt. Appropriate action will be taken after investigation.
