The Congress leaders and activists staged a dharna for four hours on Generali Road and Link Road here today after breaking the machine during the counting of votes in the by-election held in Ward No-2 of the Municipal Council. Meanwhile, Congress state president Amarinder Singh Raja Waring said that bullying by the Punjab government will not be tolerated at any cost. On this occasion, apart from Waring, Pratap Singh Bajwa, Member of Parliament Dr. Amar Singh and former minister Gurkirat Singh Kotli were also present. The leaders demanded that cases be registered against those who break the machines. Meanwhile, the election commission officer issued a notice for re-voting at booth number four of ward number-2 on December 23. After this, the Congressmen ended the sit-in. Satnam Chaudhary from Congress, Vicky Mashal from AAP, Hasanjot Singh Channi from BJP and Mandeep Singh Gabbar from Akali Dal were contesting in the by-election here. The Congress leaders said that in the evening, during the counting, AAP workers had broken the machine at booth number four. On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Saund said that the incident in Ward No. 2 is condemnable. The administration should conduct a fair investigation and take action against the culprits.
