Due to the increase in the arrival of potatoes in the grain market of Babain, the price of potatoes has decreased by two hundred rupees per quintal today compared to yesterday. Concern is being felt among the potato growers regarding this. Till Thursday, the price of potato in the market was between 1550 to 1750 rupees, which has reduced to 1325 to 1550 rupees per quintal today. Potatoes were sold at Rs 3000 to Rs 3150 per quintal in the initial round in Babain Mandi. The prices have started decreasing since few days. Now due to the high arrival of potatoes, disappointment is visible on the faces of the farmers. According to the data of the market committee, the arrival of potatoes in the market was 1,20,302 quintals last year, which has reduced to 1,00,435 quintals this time.
Officials are citing a 15-day delay in planting potatoes and the reduction in potato production as the reason. Officials believe that due to the increase in the arrival of potatoes in the market, the prices have started falling. As the prices will fall, the export of potatoes will also increase. In such a situation, it has to be seen whether the arrival of potatoes in the market increases or decreases this time compared to last year. Looking at the price of potato and sowing of wheat, farmers have started digging up potatoes from the fields quickly so that they can sow wheat on time.
Registration for Aloo Bhavantar Prapai Yojana has started
Market Committee Secretary Love Gupta said that the market administration has made complete provision of electricity and water in the market in view of the potato harvest so that the farmers do not face any kind of trouble. He said that the government has started registration for Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana for potato crop. To avail the benefit of this scheme, the farmers must visit the portal and register the details of their potato crop so that they do not face any problem in the future to avail the benefit of this scheme.
