Gleb Nikitin, governor of Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod Oblast province, announced the offer, published in a report by the Institute for War Studies. The birthrate in Russia is also very low. Currently, the birth rate is 1.5 children per woman, but the government believes this is significantly lower. If the current population is to be maintained, the birthrate per woman should be 2.1 children.
Why this difficulty?
Russia has been locked in a war with Ukraine for two years. Many soldiers have been martyred in the war there. Many others have also lost their lives due to gunpowder. Due to this, the population of Russia has decreased rapidly. According to the report, in September 2024, the population of Russia reached the lowest level in the last 25 years. Seeing this, the government is under stress. The kind of situation Russia is going through, it is in dire need of military power. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described population decline as a major challenge. So the government has started making offers.
According to the report, the money for the first and second children will be given by the central government. While the state government will give money for the children of third and fourth. The biggest thing is that there is no condition for this. This offer is only for girls aged 18 to 23 years. Under this, programs have also been organized in the capital of Russia, Moscow. People are telling about it. Russian Health Minister Yevgeny Shestopalov has already advised people to have more children.
