Punjab News Amritsar: Two arrested in the case of the grenade attack on the police station

The Punjab Police has recently arrested two persons for allegedly carrying out a grenade attack on the Islamabad Police Station in Amritsar. It may be mentioned that this attack was carried out on the morning of December 17, although no one was injured in this incident. Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav said on Saturday that the Special Operations Cell in Amritsar has busted a narco-terror module being run by controllers from abroad.

The DGP said in a post on ‘X’ that Gurjit Singh from Danda in Amritsar and Baljit Singh from Tarn Taran raid have been arrested. The arrested persons had carried out a grenade attack on the Islamabad Police Station on December 17, 2024.”

He said that 1.4 kg of heroin, a hand grenade and two pistols have also been recovered. The DGP added that further investigation is on to uncover the entire network.

After an explosion-like sound was heard in the Islamabad police station on December 17, the Punjab Police declared it an “attack” and the DGP ordered strict action against the culprits. Two days after the Amritsar incident, a similar attack took place from Gurdaspur district.
