Sarabjit Singh Bhangu/Gurnam Singh Chauhan
Patiala/Patdar, 28 December
The fast to death observed by Jagjit Singh Dallewal for the fulfillment of farmers’ demands continued today on the 34th day. Due to being hungry, many parts of their body are responding. Now they are not even digesting water due to which the use of water has been reduced. On the other hand, in view of the strict orders issued by the Supreme Court to the Punjab government, the farmers have tightened their guard around Jagjit Singh Dallewal, expressing the fear of being picked up by the police. The farmers’ leaders reiterated today that the police can pick up Dallewal only after passing their dead bodies.
Kaka Singh Kotra, Surjit Singh Phool and other farmers leaders who are leading the Kisan Morche here said that not only volunteers but also farmers leaders will come forward and fight if Jagjit Singh Dallewal is picked up.
Surjit Phool even said that if such an attempt is made, both parties (farmers and police) may suffer. Farmer leaders said that the Supreme Court should not become a participant in the case of anti-farmer policies of the Centre. He said that if there is a loss, then the Center as well as the Supreme Court will be held responsible. He said that Jagjit Singh Dallewal has written a letter to the President, Prime Minister saying that he is fighting to ensure the fulfillment of the promises made by the Central Government. Farmer leaders appealed that the Supreme Court should issue instructions to the Center instead of the Punjab government.
Chief Minister Mann is likely to meet Dallewal today or tomorrow
