The year 2024 has not been very good in Punjab for the BJP, which won iron for the third time in a row in the politics of the country. Although the BJP has managed to form the government at the center for the third time during the Lok Sabha elections, it has failed to gain a foothold in Punjab. Apart from this, nothing happened to the party during the by-elections held in Punjab. The performance of the party has not been good in the Municipal Corporation and Council elections. Even during the Lok Sabha elections, the party has faced internal conflict by relying on external leaders.
During the Lok Sabha elections, BJP fielded Praneet Kaur, wife of former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh from Patiala, Arvind Khanna from Sangrur, Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi from Ferozepur, Hans Raj Hans from Faridkot, Ravneet Singh Bittu from Ludhiana and Anandpur Sahib. Subhash Sharma and other leaders were brought into the election field. In these elections, many senior leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also campaigned in the state, but it did not work. However, there was an increase in the BJP’s vote percentage during the Lok Sabha elections. At the same time, after forming the government at the Centre, the BJP has made Ravneet Singh Bittu, who contested the election from Ludhiana, the Union Minister of State.
After this, the BJP has also faced defeat in the assembly constituencies of Jalandhar West, Giddarbaha, Dera Baba Nanak, Barnala and Chabewal. In the panchayat elections, municipal corporation, municipal council and municipal panchayat elections held in the state, the party did not win much.

Farmers of the state angry with BJP
For such a situation of BJP in Punjab, it is being considered that the central government is neglecting the farmers. The anger created in the minds of the farmers due to the three agricultural laws has not subsided yet. Because of this, farmers have opposed the BJP during the Lok Sabha elections and by-elections. Even now, farmers’ resentment against the BJP is increasing due to the failure of farmers’ leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal, who is on a death fast for 35 days.
