In Kapurthala, a youth was cheated of Rs 30 lakh in the name of sending him abroad. Almost one and a quarter years after the complaint of the victim youth, an FIR has been registered in Sadar police station against a travel agent resident of Jalandhar. Gurvinder Singh, resident of village Parvez Nagar, told the police that he and his aunt’s two sons wanted to go to England. During this time, contact was made with Jalandhar resident travel agent Devrishi Bakshi. Who had taken the passports and advance of Rs 6 lakh to send all three abroad on the basis of work permit in March 2023.
After this, Travel gradually took another Rs 24 lakh from him by getting him to do several transactions, but the said agent started making excuses. Despite repeated requests, he neither sent them abroad nor returned their documents and money. When the agent asked for the money back, he started threatening to kill him.

In which higher officials investigated and took action against the accused. ASI Puran Chand said that after investigation, FIR has been registered against travel agent Devrishi Bakshi under various sections. ASI Puran Chand also told that the accused travel agent did not even cooperate in the investigation. Therefore, after registering the FIR, further action has been started for his arrest. In which a week’s notice will be sent to him.
