The incident happened Thursday afternoon, according to Fullerton police spokeswoman Christy Wells. The plane crashed near the Fullerton Municipal Airport. This airport has one runway and one helipad. It is located close to the regional rail line, Metrolink, and is surrounded by residential and commercial warehouse buildings. Originally, Fullerton is a city of about 140,000 people about 25 miles (40 km) southeast of Los Angeles.
