Heavy rain accompanied by hail and storms hit most parts of Makkah and Madinah, especially Jeddah city and other areas of the governorate on Monday.
According to the Saudi Gazette report, the rain flooded roads and squares in the cities of Makkah, Jeddah and Madinah, affecting traffic on highways and roads.
According to the report of the Ministry of Water and Agriculture of Saudi Arabia, some other areas of the country received moderate to heavy rain. The highest rainfall of 49.2 mm was recorded in Al-Shafia in Madinah’s Badr Governorate. Along with this, Al-Basatin district of Jeddah city received 38 mm of rain, which is the second highest.
The environment agency attached to the ministry says that the heaviest rainfall was recorded in some parts of Madinah. 36.1 mm of rain was recorded in the central Haram area of the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, 33.6 mm in Al-Masjid area of Badr, 28.4 mm in Quba Mosque, 26.8 mm in Sultana Mohalla and 23.0 mm in Al-Suwaidriya. badr

According to the ministry’s report, continuous rain is continuing in Makkah, Madinah, Qasim, Tabuk, Northern Frontier Region and Al-Jawf regions. Saudi Arabia’s National Meteorological Center (NCM) said that until now there was a red alert in the city of Jeddah, which has now been changed to orange. Along with this, moderate rain, strong winds, near zero visibility and high sea waves are likely.

The NMC confirmed that rain conditions are still prevailing in many areas. In view of the danger, the public has been advised to strictly follow the instructions and warnings issued by the concerned authorities. The center has also advised to keep an eye on the weather related information.
Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport has requested passengers to contact the relevant airlines before arriving at the airport for their journey and get flight updates due to the rainy conditions.
