India voted in favor of the UN General Assembly resolution calling on Israel to withdraw from the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, and to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in West Asia. India was among the 157 countries that voted in its favour, while eight member states – Argentina, Hungary, Israel, Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea and the US – voted against it. Cameroon, Czechia, Ecuador, Georgia, Paraguay, Ukraine and Uruguay did not participate.
The resolution, as amended orally adopted, calls for the “achievement without delay of a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in West Asia, including East Jerusalem, based on relevant UN resolutions and the end of the Israeli occupation that began in 1967.” ‘ repeated his call.

The resolution also emphasized that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the Palestinian territory captured in 1967 and that it ‘affirms the vision of a two-state solution, in which the Gaza Strip will be part of Palestine.’

The resolution emphasizes the need for an immediate and complete cessation of all acts of violence and incitement, including military attacks, sabotage and terrorist acts. India voted in favor of another resolution in the General Assembly demanding that Israel withdraw from the Syrian-occupied Golan and return to the June 1967 border lines in implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions.
The Golan Heights is a rocky plateau in southwestern Syria, about 60 km south of Damascus (Syria’s capital). It is bordered by the Yarmouk River to the south and the Sea of Galilee to the west. The UN considers the area to be part of Syria. However, during the Six Day War in 1967, Israel captured the Golan Heights. 97 votes were cast in favor of this proposal, while eight votes were cast against it, while 64 countries, including Australia, Canada, Israel, Britain and America, abstained from voting.
