Kanauj, 11 January
Due to the collapse of the under construction railway station building in Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh today, around two dozen workers have been crushed under its debris. Officials said that 23 people were injured in this incident. Six of them have been admitted to the hospital. The North Eastern Railway has constituted a three-member committee to investigate the incident.
District Magistrate Shubhrant Kumar Shukal said, “According to preliminary information, the accident occurred due to the falling shuttering of the roof of the building under construction.” Shukal said that our first priority is to extricate the workers trapped under the debris. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed the officials to ensure the safety and proper treatment of the workers trapped under the debris. State Relief Commissioner Bhanu Chandra Goswami said they are in touch with the administration. The teams of ANDRF and SDRF have started relief and rescue operations. -News-Patiala
