2 retirements in 5 days… 2 fast bowlers bid farewell before IND-ENG series, bowled at 150 KMH at the age of 21

Indian fast bowler Varun Aaron has announced his retirement from international cricket. Right-arm fast bowler Varun is the second Indian player to retire in the last 5 days. Five days before Varun, bowling all-rounder Rishi Dhawan announced his retirement from ODIs and T20Is. Varun grabbed a lot of headlines by bowling at a speed of 153 km per hour. He debuted in Team India as a pure fast bowler but later he could not sustain his pace. He kept getting injured continuously, after which he did not get many opportunities in the team. International cricket debutant Varun Aaron announced his retirement from international cricket on social media in October 2011.

Varun Aaron wrote on his Instagram, ‘I have been living the thrill of fast bowling for the past 20 years, today I am officially announcing my retirement from cricket. This journey would not have been possible without God, my family, friends, teammates, coaches, support staff and fans. During this time I had to face many injuries including dangerous injuries. Even after that I came back. This is only possible due to the tireless dedication of NCA’s physios, coaches and trainers. Now I would like to enjoy the little joys in my life but also stay involved with sports. Who has given me everything. Fast bowling has been my first love and will always be an important part of my life.

35-year-old Varun Aaron retired from red-ball cricket from the Indian domestic season in 2023-24. He plays for Jharkhand in domestic cricket. His team could not reach the knockout round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Varun played 4 matches for Jharkhand in the Vijay Hazare Trophy season in which he took 3 wickets. In the Vijay Hazare season of 2010-2011, Varun bowled the ball at a speed of 150 km per hour. He was 21 years old then. Varun struggled with back strain throughout his cricket career.
