An Army jawan was martyred in an overnight encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore area. The jawan was injured in the firing during the encounter near the terrorists’ hideout in Jalura Gujarpati of Sopore police district and succumbed to his injuries while being taken out of the encounter site, officials said. According to officials, the security forces discovered a hideout of the terrorists on Sunday and the army cordoned off the area due to the firing. He said that the security forces kept a full vigil in Jalura Gujarpati during the night and intensified the operation to search for the suspected terrorists in the area this morning. Meanwhile, in view of the Republic Day, the police have strengthened the security arrangements in the valley.
