New Delhi, January 24
After the Punjab Police withdrew the extra security provided to former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Kejriwal described the move as politically motivated and said there should be no politics over the security of an individual. It may be mentioned that the Punjab Police has withdrawn security on Thursday following the instructions of the Election Commission following the recommendation of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
Addressing a press conference on Friday, Kejriwal said, “This is pure politics. Sadly, personal security is being politicized. At least there should be no politics on security.” On Thursday, Kejriwal alleged that some cadres of the opposition candidate entered his public meeting in Hari Nagar and attacked his car. Kejriwal said, “Today in Hari Nagar, the police allowed men of opposition candidates to enter my public meeting and then attacked my car.
He said that all this is happening on the orders of Amit Shah. Amit Shah turns Delhi Police into BJP’s personal army Last week, the AAP national convenor also claimed that he was attacked by alleged BJP workers during his election campaign rally.
Delhi Chief Minister Atishi tweeted, “At Amit Shah’s request, @DelhiPolice today forcibly removed @ArvindKejriwal’s Punjab Police security.” On the same day, BJP goons attacked Kejriwal in Hari Nagar. Do Modi-Shah want to play with Kejriwal’s life? How long will the Election Commission remain a silent spectator on the continuous attacks?
It may be noted that the Delhi Assembly elections will be held in a single phase on February 5 and the counting of votes is to be held on February 8. A total of 699 candidates are contesting for 70 assembly seats in Delhi. ANI
