According to media reports, Dharmendra got only 1 lakh 50 thousand rupees to play the role of ‘Veeru’. Sanjeev Kumar got 1 lakh 25 thousand rupees to play the role of ‘Thakur Baldev Singh’. Amitabh Bachchan received less than Sanjeev Kumar for the role of ‘Jai’. He got only 1 lakh rupees for this character. Hema Malini played the role of ‘Basanti’ and killed him in the film. He received only 75 thousand rupees as a fee for this film. ‘Gabbar Singh’ i.e. Amjad Khan received less fees than Hema Malini. He had received a fee of only 50 thousand rupees for this role. Jaya Bhaduri got only 35 thousand rupees to play the role of ‘Radha’. At the same time, ‘Jailor’ Asrani got only 15 thousand rupees, ‘Kalia’ got 10 thousand rupees as fee of Viju Khot, ‘Samba’ i.e. Mac Mohan got 12 thousand rupees and ‘Rahim Chacha’ got only 8 thousand maintenance.
