New Delhi: Anupam Kher is counted among the most famous actors of Bollywood today. Born on 7 March 1955 in Shimla, Anupam’s father was a government clerk, but he never showed interest in the job. His dreams pulled him towards Mumbai, but he did not get immediate success there. Few people know about Anupam Kher’s struggle days. When he came in search of work in Mumbai, he had no place to live. He spent nights at the railway station several times, spent hungry and thirsty days, but did not give up.

His real identity was made from the 1984 film ‘Summary’, in which he played the role of an elderly father of 65 years, while he was just 28 years old! He told in an interview that this role was going to be available to Sanjeev Kumar at first, but director Mahesh Bhatt played bet on Anupam Kher. The actor once told, ‘People used to tell me that you are so young, how will you do this role? But I did it with full vigor and it became the biggest success of my life!

First marriage failed

Anupam Kher first married a girl named Madhumalati under family pressure in 1979, but that relationship did not last long. On the other hand, Kiran Kher was also married to businessman Gautam Barry, but it was also not successful. Anupam and Kiran met again during a theater play in Kolkata in 1985. Meanwhile, Anupam proposed Kiran and both of them finished their relationship and got married in 1985. Anupam adopted Kiran’s son Alexander and gave his surname.

Children’s shortage pain

Anupam Kher loves children very much and he also did a show called Anupam Uncle, but he has no children of his own. He had told, ‘When Alexander was four years old, he came to me. He gives me a lot of love and respect, but it would be wrong to say that I do not miss my own child. This pain will always be there. Kiran Kher had told in an interview that he and Anupam tried hard for the child. We also took medical help, because Alexander needed siblings, but this could not be possible.

Crores of wealth, but who heir?
