There was a time when ‘China’ used to come to the mind on hearing the name of the iPhone, because the most component of this phone was done there, but now the game has changed. India has made a tremendous grip in the matter of making iPhone and now the condition is that 1 out of every 5 iPhone is being made in India.
22 billion dollars iPhone, that too in a year!
There has been a tremendous jump of 60% in making iPhone in India as compared to last year. In just one year, India made iphones of $ 22 billion. This figure says a lot in itself. That is, now Apple has also agreed that India is not just a market, but the next superstar of manufacturing.
Most of the work is being done in South India
Most of the factories of making iPhone are in South India. Especially large units of Foxconn. Apart from this, companies like Tata Electronics, Wistron and Patron are also working for Apple and the most interesting thing is that now the high-end titanium models of iPhone are also getting assembled in India.
Why is China lagging behind in this matter?
Actually this whole story started with the tussle of America and China. The US imposed heavy tariffs (duty tax) on many products coming from China, causing damage to Apple. In such a situation, Apple thought, why not move away from China to a country where tax is also less and the environment is also favorable? And then the entry of India.
India’s explosive entry into exports too
Iphones made in India are now not only selling in India, but also abroad is being exported indiscriminately. As of March 2025, $ 17.4 billion (ie 1.5 trillion rupees) iPhones have been exported from India. That is, ‘Made in India’ is now being sold globally!
What Kovid started, has now gained momentum
Earlier, Apple had shown the fast in making iPhone in India during Kovid’s time. At that time many companies moved to India from China. In fact, during the Korona period, China had to face all the qualifications like lockdown, supply chain disturbances. Due to which the condition of this country had deteriorated. Since then Apple has intensified work in India. Then when the US increased the tariff on China, Apple’s trust increased further. Now India has become a strong option for Apple.
