AI in Work: Using AI tools like Chatgpt, Gemini or Copilot in the office? So just be careful, according to a new research, your colleagues can consider you not hardworking and smarter but ‘lazy’ and ‘unskilled’. This study was funded by Duke University in America and published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. It has been told that even though AI increases the speed and production of work, it also has a social loss in the office which can deteriorate your image in people’s eyes.
Research revealed
According to the information, four separate online experiments were done on 4,400 participants in this research. In the first experiment, people were asked how their colleagues would see them if they resort to AI to complete the project. Most people admitted that they would be considered ‘doodle’, ‘less hardworking’, and ‘less capable’. Some even said that such employees can be easily changed.
In the second Test, the participants were asked to describe the colleagues who use AI tools. In the answers, these people were called ‘dependent’, ‘less confident’ and ‘helpless’.
In the third phase, people were given a situation by making managers where they had to hire new employees. Those who told that they use AI tools were less likely to recruit. But when the manager is an AI user himself, it did not matter whether the candidate uses AI or not.
In the fourth and final experiment, it was observed that if AI tool is suitable for work and positively affects the performance, negative thinking almost disappears.
What is AI required
This study shows that the use of AI in the office may make your work easy, but how the rest of the people can see you, it can affect your career. Until the thinking of society changes, using AI openly can be a bit risky. However, in view of today’s changing world, the use of AI has become the need of people.
