In fact, any chip works only when it comes in contact with a machine or a device, that is, it can be scanned or read. Today’s smart cards and mobile payments use NFC (Near-Field Communication) technology. NFC is a wireless technology that provides the facility to share the data by bringing two devices pass. Just as we tap the card on the machine, the NFC device also transfers data as soon as it comes in contact.
So is it possible to pay a chip on the nail?
Technically, if that chip has the NFC feature and it is in the active state, then payment can be possible within a limited range. But what is being shown in the viral video, there is less technical and more pretense.
On watching the video carefully, it shows that an acrylic coating has been done on the chip. Now if there is a coating on it, then it cannot easily come in contact with a scanner or NFC reader. From above, the payment is being done with barcode scanner, which is clear that the real transaction is not done with the nail chip but from any QR code or app.
Where is the real use of NFC?
Nowadays NFC technology is used in many smartphones, smartwatches, debit-credit cards and even fasting services. When two NFC devices come very close, then the transaction of data is done. This makes contactless payment possible.

Such videos are made to surprise people. Actually, by applying a chip on the nail in today’s date, it is not common nor is it such an easy technique. Many technical conditions have to be fulfilled for keeping the NFC chip active, data security and correct scanning. So the next time you watch any such video, wait a little, think and understand the technology. Because the era of digital payment has definitely come, but not every shining thing is gold.
