This change is part of the routine updates made by META. Whatsapp is now increasing the limit of minimum software version to use your app. Its purpose is to provide better security and new facilities to users. From now on, iOS will not be able to support iPhones running on 15 or older versions and Android 5.0 or older and older and older and older and older and will not be able to support WhatsApp.

All these devices are very old and now new updates are not available on them, so that the new security and features of WhatsApp will not be able to work on them.

Learn like that or not your phone is affected

If your phone is still on the version of iOS 15.1 or Android 5.1 or above, then you will be sure your device will continue to support WhatsApp. But if your device is in the list above or is running on the old version, then it is being advised to take a new phone in time.

It is necessary to backup

WhatsApp has advised that if you are using old phone and planning to get a new device, then first of all take backup of your chats. Security became a big reason

According to META, security is the biggest reason behind this decision. Older devices are no longer able to get software updates, which has increased the risk of hacking and data theft in them. That is why whatsapp wants users to shift to new and safe devices. These features work perfectly only on new OS and latest devices.
