China has acquired such power that it can wreak havoc all over the world

Controlled Internet: According to the “Freedom on the Net” report of 2021 Freedom House, China was the country in the review of 70 countries where the most control was seen on the Internet. It scored only 10 points out of 100, which reflects its serious condition of internet independence. Other highly banned countries in terms of independence on the Internet include Iran, Myanmar, and Cuba. Vietnam, which ranks fifth in this list, is running at the footsteps of his close aide China. China’s ‘Great Firewall’ system has strong control over the Internet, it is a mechanism that controls internet traffic going inside and outside the country and gives the government the strength to filter the material. Countries like Iran and North Korea also adopt similar systems.

This model is famous in many countries

This model is now becoming popular in many countries of Southeast Asia. Countries like Cambodia and Thailand have recently been considering adopting such rigorous internet policy. Strict rules on the Internet are also common in countries of Middle East and North Africa. The United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Bahrain are in high places in this list.

Russia’s report

Russia finished 11th out of 70 countries in this report. The report said that many measures are being adopted in Russia such as banning online materials, blocking platforms, promotion of false information, cyber attacks and action on users. Apart from this, the cyber laws there have also been tightened. This report clearly shows how some governments are using the Internet as a medium of control and monitoring, which affects the freedom of expression of citizens.
