If you also share photos and videos on WhatsApp, then there is good news for you. WhatsApp is now doing a new feature test, so that you will be able to decide in which quality photos and videos are downloaded (automatic) automatically.
What is this new feature?
This new option is shown in WhatsApp’s Android beta version 2.25.18.11. The name of this feature is “Auto-Download Quality”, that is, you can choose that when a photo or video comes, in which quality it is downloaded automatically.
You will find this option in WhatsApp settings like this:
Settings > Storage and data > Auto-download quality
Here you will get two options:
- Standard Quality (Standard Quality)
- HD Quality (HD Quality)
What is the difference between both quality?
- Standard Quality: In this, the file size of photos and video is small. That is, less data seems, it gets downloaded quickly and the storage of the phone also fills less.
- HD Quality: It has details of photos and videos and quality is good, but it seems more data and more storage is also required.
User will have complete control
If you have set a standard quality, WhatsApp will download the files automatically in the same quality, but the good thing is that you can see or download a photo or video in a manually HD quality.
How is this new update related to the previous feature?
Recently, WhatsApp launched a dual-upload feature, in which when someone sends photos or videos, the app uploads both its versions (standard and HD) to the server. Now with the help of the new feature, the receiver himself can decide which quality files should be downloaded in your phone.
When will you get this feature?
Currently, this feature is in testing for some beta users. It is expected that all the users will get in the updates to be updated.
