Ai Agent: So far it was believed that the weakest stringent humans in the cyber security of any company are the weakest human but a new report is changing this notion. According to the latest report by cyber security company Squarex, AI agents used in browser are now proving more risk than human employees.
According to Techradar, these AI based browser agents which were earlier being appreciated to make routine online tasks easier and faster are now becoming easy victims for hackers. According to Vivek Ramachandran, CEO of Squarex, "These agents do their actions with full efficiency, but they do not have the ability to identify any danger."
AI agents are becoming danger
While humans get cyber security training from time to time and they are able to identify suspicious links or fishing attacks, AI agents interact with the website or application without any question. In a demo, Squarex showed how an AI agent was asked to sign up in a general file sharing service but inadvertently accessed a massive app. In another case, the same agent considered a fishing website as real salesforce login page and seated login details in it.
It is a matter of concern that these AI agents keep the same type of access rights like normal users, so that hackers can get access to the entire system without alarm. Traditional security systems such as endpoint protection or Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) also fail to deal with this new threat.

Squarex has advised that companies such as browser-element security solutions "Browser detection and response" (BDR) should be adopted so that the activities of AI agents can be monitored immediately. The report also states that it is very important to create separate monitoring mechanisms until the big browser itself brings built-in security measures for AI automation.
