The Nepal team participated in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
Nepal’s team will practice in India before the T20 World Cup qualifier 2025. The Nepali team will participate in the practice session at BCCI’s Center of Excellence in Bangalore from 20 August to 4 September. This initiative is being done in collaboration with the Government of India, which aims to connect the youth of India and Nepal through cricket.
Oman will be qualified
The T20 World Cup qualifiers will be played in Oman between 8 and 17 October. The main tournament will be held in India and Sri Lanka.
India had earlier given the Nepal team a chance to train at the Center of Excellence in August last year. Along with this, Nepal also played a triangular practice tournament against the teams of Barodara and Gujarat Cricket Association, which took place in June last year.
Rohit Paudel is the captain of Nepal.
Cricket medium to connect youth of both countries
A government official from the news agency said, cricket cooperation has given new energy to the historic and deep relations between India and Nepal. Cricket has become a common medium to connect the youth of both countries.
Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met Nepal cricket team
Foreign Minister of India Dr. S. Jaishankar met the Nepal’s men’s team and the Cricket Association of Nepal (Can) representatives in January 2024 and expressed India’s support for the development of cricket in Nepal.
The Government of India also supported the practice matches between the under-19 teams of Nepal and DDCA (Delhi District Cricket Association) held in Nepal in March 2024.
Women’s team has also participated in training cap
Nepal’s women’s cricket team took part in the training camp in Delhi in April-May 2024 to prepare for the Asia Cup qualifier (Thailand, May 2024) and reached the final of the qualifier.
In July 2025, the Indian Embassy (Kathmandu) helped 3 under-19 players of Nepal get a month training in Bhopal.
Nepal’s women’s cricket team has also taken training in India.
