Fake Calls: In view of the increasing cases of fake calls and messages, last year TRAI implemented a new policy under which such calls and SMS are blocked at the network level itself. Many telecom companies are now stopping such fraud calls and messages using AI technology. Airtel’s recent data has shown that millions of fake calls are being blocked every month.
However, despite the vigilance of the government, cyber criminals are trying to cheat people with new tricks. Now these thugs are using VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) calls through the Internet, which makes it difficult to find out their location and identity.
Big threat associated with voip call
According to Thailand’s telecommunications institution NBTC, VOIP calls often begin at +697 or +698. It is very difficult to track these calls and that is why cyber criminals use them on priority. Not only this, these thugs also use VPN (virtual private network) so that their true identity is completely hidden. If you get calls from an international number, especially which starts from +697 or +698, then it is better to ignore it. These calls are mostly done for online fraud or promotional scams. You can also block such number directly.
If you have accidentally received the call, never share your personal information. These people try to confuse you by calling themselves a government official, bank employee or any other prestigious person. In such a situation, you tell them that you will call yourself. If he refuses to give a valid number, then understand that this call is a scam.
Report on ‘Chakshu’ portal
The government has launched the ‘Chakshu’ portal for complaints of fake calls and messages which is present on the communication fellow website. Apart from this, a mobile app is also available from which you can easily report such fraud calls and messages. To report, you go to the ‘Chakshu’ portal, give information about the related call or message and follow the instructions on the screen.
