North East United has won the Durand Cup title in the 137 -year -old football tournament. The team defeated Diamond Harbor 6–1 in the final match played on Saturday. North East United became the champion in the last season as well.

At the Saltlake Stadium in Kolkata, 6 goals were scored from the defending champion, while the team of Diamond Harbor, who was debuting in this tournament, could score only one goal. North East United received a record amount of Rs 1.21 crore. Which is the highest in 134 editions of Asia’s oldest football tournament.

The biggest win of the final in the tournament

The team of North East United has won the biggest win in the history of the Durunt Cup. The team took a 2 goal lead in the first half of the match. In the 30th minute, Ashir Akhtar scored the first goal, while in the 46th minute, Northeast United FC 2–0 was ahead with Gogoi’s goal.

As soon as the second half began (in 51st minutes) Thoi Singh scored another goal to lead his team 3–0. Luka scored the only goal from Diamond Harbor in the 60th minute of the second half. Then in the 80th minute, the Northeast United FC Ziro scored a spectacular goal with the goal keeper. Shortly after this, in the 82nd minute, Northeast United FC Andres Joe scored another great goal to reach the team in 5-1.
